2025 is the year for weddings to remember! As a wedding planning and coordination company, we hear and see so much of what is to come in the wedding world and we can’t be more excited. As trends come and go, it is helpful to know what people are finding enhances their experience on their wedding day! We’ve rounded up a list of trends we are seeing and loving in 2025 weddings:
Couples are opting to have more of an exciting experience for their guests on their wedding day and less of a spectacle only about them. This lends to the personalization of their details such as their table numbers to be more fitting for the couple’s lives or having culturally-specific symbolism. For example, something like having 2 birds as ice sculptures because in Korea it symbolizes a happy marriage and well wishes. We are also seeing a comeback in couples bringing in old traditions that they might have skipped the last few years with things like German songs/toasts, desserts from where their family is from, or more interactive guest books that have nods to their hobbies and real lives together so it’s not just a one-time-use item.
For their meals, they want their guests to feel a part of the experience by offering more interactive food stations and foods that match their culture and taste buds. We are seeing more of a culinary experience, emphasizing your guests being able to create a meal for themselves with pasta bars and food made on-site in front of them. Guests are generally roaming more for their food and drinks with espresso martini drink walls, grazing charcuterie tables, or sweets stations and bars. We are also seeing more “roaming food and drinks”; of course starting with our passed appetizers and drinks during cocktail hour, but going as far as to have roaming vendors like cannoli guys to make them in front of you while you’re out on the dance floor or mingling. We are also seeing a rise in late night snacks as more guests like to stay longer at weddings, and it’s always going to be best to have carb-heavy, greasy foods. Pizza, Portillo’s, empanadas… whatever matches our taste buds and is fun for your guests will surely get eaten!
Couples are gravitating more towards color to have something a little more different and memorable with a specific focus on silver (with disco balls, reception dresses, accessories, etc.). The bold, jewel-tone color palettes are definitely having a moment more than the muted tones we have been seeing in the past. Fruits and vegetables are also making an appearance as decor. Couples are looking to have more minimalism but with decor and themes that pack a punch without going overboard, but looking to incorporate a vintage feeling with their 80’s cake designs, vintage clothing, and disco-themed elements.
Cakes in general at weddings have been dying down for a while, but we are actually seeing more small cakes for a formal cake cutting with a more decadent design. The cakes have been more artistic and more of a statement included in the design with either the continuing trend of vintage-themed piping, or more artistic and intricate. Even with these small cakes, there is definitely a need for a sweets station with even more options to provide a better guest experience with something like a churro cart or ice cream cart.
More couples are looking to have their wedding match their values and want to have a sustainable day. Many couples are option to keep things more green with less disposables, less paper invitations, and smaller guest counts. This way too they are able to spend their money in more meaningful ways to enhance their guest experience! Along the same lines, they are opting for their ceremony to be as short as possible so they can spend more time enjoying their time with their family and friends.
Generally, it is common to book your caterer shortly after you book your venue. We recommend doing this sooner in your planning journey because of the nature of the cost involved. When you have your venue and know their requirements for caterers, it’s nice to get that situated so that you know the remainder of your budget that you can dedicate to your other vendors like your photographer or coordinator. Of course, when we come closer to the wedding day it is likely that you will have some RSVPs that are nos to decrease your guest count (and your total catering cost thereafter), but we really want to make sure you aren’t in a pickle if you have booked all of your other vendors and realize the costs with getting a catering team that can provide you with the experience you are dreaming of.
